The Exxon Valdez

This is the most famous oil tanker!

This is the most famous oil tanker!

Frankly, I am surprised other oil tankers haven’t suffered from the same fate. This one was enough though. I don’t have exact figures about how much it cost to clean up from the Valdez or how many animals the spill killed, but you can use your imagination. 10 points to the first person who can tell me what percentage of the accident Exxon paid for and how much tax payers picked up. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t this off the coast of the pristine north west?

I agree. That is why the time for energy independence is now! I am hopefully going to be working soon and starting to build up my independence. I plan on building my own wind turbine(s) and installing solar water heaters/panels. I’ve been riding my moped (when it works) instead of the driving my car. It works out great and maybe sometime soon I’ll be able to do an electric car conversion if not eliminated the car entirely. All depends on where I need to get to.
